Welcoming a tortoise into your home is a rewarding experience, but finding reliable care when you’re away can be a concern. HappyTortoises offers trusted tortoise boarding in the UK, providing a safe and comfortable environment for your shelled friend. This guide details our pricing, drop-off procedures, health policies, and frequently asked questions to ensure a smooth and worry-free experience for both you and your tortoise.
Boarding Prices and Enclosure Details
Our pricing is structured to provide individual attention and care for each tortoise. The base rate starts at £8.00 per day for a single tortoise housed in its own private enclosure. We understand that many owners have multiple tortoises, and we automatically apply discounts for simultaneous bookings, making it more affordable to board your entire reptilian family. Each tortoise is guaranteed a private enclosure, ensuring no shared living spaces and minimizing stress.
When booking, please clearly specify your drop-off and collection dates. Our day count includes both drop-off and collection days. For example, a drop-off on a Friday evening and collection on a Monday morning will be counted as four days of boarding. This ensures accurate billing and planning for your tortoise’s stay.

Health Issues and Emergency Veterinary Care
The health and well-being of your tortoise are paramount. We kindly request that you inform us of any ongoing health issues or special requirements your tortoise may have at the time of booking. This allows us to make necessary preparations and ensure continuity of care. For specific treatments such as nebulisation, please discuss this with us in advance so we can accommodate your tortoise’s needs.
In the unfortunate event of an emergency, we will contact the emergency contact person you have provided. If urgent veterinary treatment is deemed necessary, we will immediately contact our trusted local vet. Please be aware that any medical expenses incurred during your tortoise’s stay must be settled in full before you collect your pet.
Late Collections and Rehoming Policy
We understand that unforeseen circumstances can sometimes lead to delays. If you anticipate being unable to adhere to the agreed drop-off or collection time, please notify us as soon as possible. While we aim to be accommodating, please note that additional charges may apply for late collections.
To ensure all our boarding residents receive timely care and attention, we have a rehoming policy in place. If a tortoise is not collected within two days of its scheduled pickup date, and we have not been able to establish contact with the owner, we reserve the right to initiate a rehoming process. A £50 rehoming fee will be charged, and any proceeds from the eventual sale of the tortoise will be retained by HappyTortoises.
