For anyone who has ever shared their home with a parakeet, the deep bond that can form is undeniable. For me, this journey began at the age of 12 with a blue and white parakeet named Pipet. Over the years, my family’s diverse collection of pets, including dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, hermit crabs, and tropical fish, never quite captured my heart the way birds did. With the exception of my college years, a companion parakeet or two has always been a part of my life. When I met my husband, my two parakeets were my constant companions, making the cross-country move with me, tucked safely in their cage in the Jeep. They even shared a clandestine hotel stay during our travels. Our children grew up with parakeets, curiously observing and interacting with them from a young age. The same cage, now over 25 years old, still houses our current parakeets, Bluey and Sunny.
During a period of extended home stays, it became clear that a change of scenery, much like the birds’ constant presence, might be beneficial. As many of us took on home improvement projects, I considered upgrading the birds’ living quarters. My long-standing relationship with Omlet, a company I’ve collaborated with for years, led me to their innovative exotic birds near me habitats. I had been particularly drawn to Omlet’s new Geo Bird Cage, admiring its unique style, shape, and overall design. It offered significantly more space than their current enclosure and, upon further research and watching demonstration videos, I realized it was the perfect choice for Bluey and Sunny.
The customization options for the Geo Bird Cage are extensive, allowing for virtually any color combination imaginable. To complement our home decor, I selected a teal base with gold mesh, and also opted for the cover and standing base. The anticipation was palpable, especially for my daughter, who inquired daily about its arrival.
Upon its arrival, my daughter and I eagerly began assembling the Geo Bird Cage. The packaging was thoughtfully organized, and the instruction booklet proved to be clear and easy to follow. The assembly process, involving interlocking hexagon-shaped pieces, took approximately an hour. The design is truly stellar, particularly the clever centralization of the food and water dispensers with an integrated tray to catch seed hulls. It was finally time to introduce Bluey and Sunny to their new home.
The cage is a beautiful addition to our living room, perfectly situated between a chair and a window, as if it were custom-made for the space. The birds seem to be thoroughly enjoying their new environment, immediately engaging in mutual preening. The cage comes with two perches that fit their little feet perfectly. These perches are easily adjustable, which helps prevent boredom, encourages varied exercise, and simplifies cleaning.
The Geo Bird Cage and its feathered inhabitants have become a captivating focal point in our living room, sparking numerous conversations with visiting family and friends. Many have remarked on never having seen a bird cage quite like it, and I wholeheartedly agree – it is quite special.
The Geo Bird Cage comes equipped with everything needed to get started, excluding the birds themselves, food, water, grit, and a cuttlebone. We also chose to purchase the optional tall stand and the charming constellation-covered cage cover for nighttime use. Both additions were well worth the investment. However, the cage also looks quite lovely positioned directly on a tabletop. Regardless of placement, the birds appear to be thriving in their new, stylish abode.
Disclosure: As part of my sponsorship with Omlet, I received an Omlet Geo Bird Cage, a stand, and a cage cover. However, this has in no way guaranteed a positive review, nor have they influenced my opinions. The impressions, thoughts, and words expressed in this post are entirely my own and were not solicited. Thank you to Omlet for their generosity.
