Bringing a Norwegian Forest Cat kitten into your home is an exciting journey, and understanding their unique needs is crucial for a harmonious life together. These majestic cats, known for their gentle nature and striking appearance, require specific care to thrive. This guide will walk you through everything you need to know, from their socialization and diet to the process of bringing one of these beautiful felines home.
Socialization and Temperament
Our Norwegian Forest Cat Kittens are raised in a loving environment, surrounded by children and small dogs. This early exposure to various people and animals is key to ensuring they develop into well-socialized, friendly, and adaptable companions. We dedicate significant time daily to interact with each kitten, providing them with the love and attention necessary to foster a sociable and confident personality. This intensive socialization helps them transition smoothly into their new forever homes.
Health and Diet: The Foundation of Well-being
At Goddess Cats, the health and diet of our kittens are paramount. We feed our kittens a carefully selected variety of high-quality, grain-free dry foods, alongside a diverse range of wet foods, fish, freeze-dried raw options, and cooked meats and organs. This balanced approach ensures they receive all the necessary nutrients for healthy growth and development. Providing such a varied diet from a young age also helps prevent picky eating habits later in life.
Bringing Your Kitten Home: The Process
Kittens typically leave our care between 14 to 16 weeks of age, health permitting. Before they go to their new homes, each kitten undergoes a thorough health check by our veterinarian and is brought up-to-date with their vaccinations. Depending on the kitten, they may also be spayed or neutered.
To assist with the transition, each kitten receives a starter bag filled with essential goodies. This bag includes a small portion of the dry and wet cat food they are accustomed to, a toy multipack, a feather wand, a grooming kit, a cat carrier for safe transport, and a comprehensive cat care informational guide. This guide offers valuable tips and recommendations on the products we use for food, litter, and other essentials.
Considering a Second Kitten?
A common question for new owners is whether to adopt one or two kittens to prevent loneliness. While our kittens are well-socialized, having a companion can indeed enrich their lives, especially if you will be away for extended periods. Kittens often thrive in pairs, playing and keeping each other entertained. We encourage potential owners to consider this, as a happy, engaged cat is a healthy cat.
Deposits and Pricing
To reserve a kitten, a non-refundable deposit of $400 is required. This deposit can be transferred to another kitten at the breeder’s discretion. For the safety and well-being of our young children and cats, we operate a Closed Cattery policy, meaning we do not allow visitors who are not well-known to us. However, we provide weekly video and picture updates of reserved kittens to keep you connected. We reserve the right to deny a placement at any time if we believe the home is not a suitable match for a kitten.
The price for our Norwegian Forest Cat kittens ranges from $2000 to $2200. To encourage adopting pairs, we offer a $300 discount on the second kitten. Future repeat customers also receive a $300 discount as a token of our appreciation. Please note that transportation fees are separate and can be arranged if needed.

Realistic Expectations for the Waiting List
We strive to make the waiting list process as transparent and efficient as possible. Before breeding our females each season, we contact upcoming customers to confirm their readiness for a kitten or if they wish to pass on that season’s litters. We maintain a seasonal list based on customer readiness. When a litter arrives, we will email and call to reach you. Our goal is for customers to typically wait under a year, but litter sizes, successful pregnancies, and mother cat health are unpredictable. While we provide an estimated timeframe, an exact date cannot be guaranteed. Once you choose your kitten, we can provide a more precise estimate for their readiness. We are committed to sending weekly photos and videos of your chosen kitten but cannot accommodate extra photo requests due to our busy care schedule. We work with reputable transporters and can provide references, with flight transporter costs averaging around $700. Local meeting options may be available for a small fee.
Pet-Only Sales and Ongoing Support
Our Norwegian Forest Cat kittens are exclusively sold as pets, and we no longer offer breeding rights. We continue to provide photos and videos weekly after you have chosen your kitten. We hope this information is helpful and thank you for your love and support.
