Kyle Churchill, owner of Churchill Performance Horses, based at 13120 250th Street NE, Arlington, WA 98223, is a distinguished figure in the Western all-around discipline. He has also served as a WASHET reining coach since 2019. With 15 years in the business, Kyle has a wealth of experience training AQHA, APHA, and Mustang breeds. His notable accomplishments include being the 2017 Extreme Mustang Makeover Champion, earning money in sorting competitions, achieving Reserve Champion in a colt starting challenge, accumulating AQHA and APHA points, and producing multiple NCHA money earners in both open and non-pro categories.

Kyle’s business objective is to develop high-quality all-around horses and cultivate confident horse and rider partnerships. His training philosophy centers on colt starting and nurturing the all-around horse. His journey began with extensive ranch work in Wyoming, but his passion for the all-around horse led him back to Washington in 2011 to refine his training program. He further honed his skills by competing in the cutting pen for two years. Learn more about Kyle’s journey and insights in this article.

His competitive spirit spans various disciplines, including cutting, reined cow, reining, ranch sorting, and versatility. Kyle has demonstrated significant success at Extreme Mustang Makeover events, placing 5th with his mustang in 2009 and claiming the championship in 2017. These experiences underscore his deep understanding of equine behavior and training.

Kyle’s approach to training emphasizes building confidence from the very first interaction. He believes in allowing horses to mature and develop naturally, which he finds accelerates their progress and enhances their responsiveness. His method focuses on teaching feel and timing, guiding the horse while empowering them to make their own decisions. This philosophy, he contends, results in a stronger, more willing equine partner.

Beyond training horses, Kyle is deeply invested in coaching riders, aiming to help his clients achieve their full potential with their equine partners. He firmly believes that excellent horsemanship is the key to accomplishing any goal with your horse. His personal motto for training is, “Sit down, feel your horse, and ride every stride.”

At just 30 years old, Kyle has amassed diverse experience by learning from accomplished professionals across the country. He has established Churchill Performance Horses in Arlington, Washington, a private training facility he co-owns and operates with his wife, Whitney. For those seeking expert training or looking to improve their horsemanship, Churchill Performance Horses offers a comprehensive program.
