Expanding Mount Options in Wynncraft: Donkeys, Mules, and Mobile Banks

Wynncraft’s in-game economy and player experience could be significantly enhanced with the introduction of more rideable animals beyond horses. This proposal suggests integrating donkeys and mules, offering unique functionalities that cater to different player needs, particularly in inventory management and transport. This expansion aims to diversify gameplay and create new economic opportunities within the game.

Proposed New Mounts: Donkeys and Mules

The core of this proposal revolves around adding donkeys and mules as new rideable mounts.

Donkeys

Donkeys would be positioned as a more accessible, albeit less potent, mount compared to horses.

  • Stats: At their first level, donkeys would possess a speed and jump rating of 1/5.
  • Functionality: Their primary utility lies in their increased inventory capacity. A level 1 donkey would offer 4 inventory slots.
  • Cost: They would be priced similarly to horses at 24 EB (Echoes).

Mules

Mules, a hybrid of horses and donkeys, would offer a balance of both strength and carrying capacity.

  • Stats: Mules would match horses in terms of speed and jump capabilities.
  • Functionality: They would inherit the item-carrying functionality of donkeys.

Breeding Mechanics for New Mounts

Similar to horses, donkeys would be breedable with established mechanics:

  • A 50% chance to produce the same tier.
  • A 30% chance to yield a lower tier.
  • A 20% chance to result in a higher tier.

Breeding a horse and a donkey together would be the sole method of obtaining a mule. Direct breeding of two mules would be excluded to maintain game balance.

Mule Breeding Chances:

  • Same Tier Parentage: If both the horse and donkey are of the same tier, there’s a 70% chance of getting a mule of that same tier. Additionally, there’s a 10% chance for a lower tier mule and a 20% chance of a failed breeding, where one of the parent animals is returned. For example: Horse IV + Donkey IV = [70%] Mule IV, [10%] Mule III, [20%] Fail Breeding.
  • Different Tier Parentage: When parents are of different tiers, the chances are adjusted: a 20% chance for the higher tier mule, a 50% chance for the lower tier mule, and a 30% chance for breeding failure. For example: Horse II + Donkey IV = [20%] Mule IV, [50%] Mule II, [30%] Fail Breeding.

Acquiring and Equipping New Mounts

Introducing donkeys and mules would necessitate new acquisition methods and equipment.

Acquisition Quest

A potential questline for acquiring donkeys could be located in Gavel, possibly within the swamp area, targeted at players around level 57. Successful completion would reward players with a donkey and unlock access to specialized merchants.

Mount Bags and Mobile Banks

To access the enhanced inventory features of donkeys and mules, players would need to purchase a “mount bag” for 20 EB. These bags would function as an extension of the mount’s inventory. Players could equip up to three mount bags across all their characters, significantly increasing their mobile storage capacity. This would allow for a dedicated mule, donkey, and another chosen carrying animal, providing a substantial increase in storage beyond the regular bank slots. The items stored in these mount bags would be accessible through the mount’s inventory GUI. Replacing a carrying animal would require removing all items from the mount bag first.

Economic Impact and Player Perception

The integration of donkeys and mules, especially with their mobile bank capabilities, would undoubtedly impact Wynncraft’s economy. High-tier mules, particularly “white mules” due to their item store functionality and stats, could become highly sought after and command prices upwards of 96 LE or even 128 LE. This would create a new tier of valuable economic assets within the game.

For players concerned about horses becoming obsolete, this proposal maintains their relevance. Horses would continue to serve as primary riding mounts for lower-level players or those who cannot yet afford or access the new carrying animals.

Proposed Stat Adjustments and Changes

To refine the proposal, several adjustments have been considered:

  • Slot Reduction: The number of inventory slots per donkey/mule level has been lowered to 4.
  • Renaming: “Horse bag” and “Mule bag” have been consolidated into a single item: “Mount bag.”
  • Carrying Animal Limit: Players can have a maximum of three carrying animals across all their characters (one mule, one donkey, and one additional chosen animal).

Detailed Mount Stats:

Donkeys:

  • Gray Donkey (Tier I): Speed 1/5, Jump 1/5, Item Slots: 4
  • Farmer’s Donkey (Tier II): Speed 1/10, Jump 1/10, Item Slots: 8
  • Merchant’s Donkey (Tier III): Speed 1/15, Jump 1/15, Item Slots: 12
  • Royal Donkey (Tier IV): Speed 1/20, Jump 1/20, Item Slots: 16

Mules:

  • Brown Mule (Tier I): Speed 1/10, Jump 1/10, Item Slots: 4
  • Farmer’s Mule (Tier II): Speed 1/20, Jump 1/20, Item Slots: 8
  • Merchant’s Mule (Tier III): Speed 1/30, Jump 1/30, Item Slots: 12
  • Royal Mule (Tier IV): Speed 1/40, Jump 1/40, Item Slots: 16

The names for these mounts are subject to further community feedback and refinement. This expansion offers a compelling opportunity to enrich the gameplay experience in Wynncraft by providing players with more strategic options for travel and inventory management.
