Maya, a 3-year-old rescue who initially lacked toy experience, was immediately drawn to it, engaging in enthusiastic chewing and playful tug-of-war with other dogs. The Kong Rewards Ball offers a clever combination of a durable toy and a treat dispenser. While it took a moment for our dogs to warm up to it, the combination of interactive play and treat dispensing kept them amused for hours. We found it simple to load treats, and the dogs didn’t struggle to access them. However, the dogs seemed to favor the soft, rubbery side of the toy over the treat-dispensing aspect. Jean particularly loved this toy, chewing it for hours and burying it. Despite intense chewing, no tooth marks were found, and no treats were left behind, indicating an effective treat dispenser. From large Jambo to small Star, every dog at the shelter enjoyed playing with and chewing this toy.

Black Nero enjoyed a good tug-of-war and chew session with it, and it was popular for fetching from the lake. However, our fears about its durability were quickly realized. Within approximately 30 minutes of intensive testing, the toy showed significant teeth marks and was nearly split in two. While it provided short-lived fun and was popular for retrieval games, it ultimately failed the “indestructible” test for powerful chewers.

Black Nero and Maya showed the most interest, but their engagement was very brief.
