We acquired five toys – the Nylabone Extreme Tough Dog Chew Toy, the Kong Rewards Ball, the CyunCmay Indestructible Dog Toy Bone, the Hetoo Indestructible Squeaky Dental Care Dog Toy, and the Kong Wobbler – and subjected them to a week of intense chewing, playing, burying, and retrieving by our diverse pack, including Nero, Max, Maya, Black Nero, Jean, and Pebbles. Here’s what our canine panel had to say.

Nylabone Extreme Tough Dog Chew Toy

This XXL Bison-flavored Extreme Tough Dog Chew Toy is designed for powerful chewers weighing over 23kg. Nero, our 9-year-old Pitt bull, spent hours with this toy, leaving barely a mark. Its substantial size is manageable for dogs to carry, and the curved design makes it easy to grip with their paws, enhancing the chewing experience. Maya, a 3-year-old rescue who is still learning to trust humans and play with toys, took to it immediately, finding joy in chewing and carrying it, even inspiring playful chases with Max.

The Nylabone is easy to clean and, crucially, retains its flavor indefinitely, meaning no messy residue or lingering smells. Black Nero, known for his destructive chewing habits, even with strong fencing materials, found this Nylabone to be no match for his strength, yet he thoroughly enjoyed it. After extensive chewing, the bone showed minimal signs of wear.

Kong Rewards Ball

The Kong Rewards Ball, while initially met with less overt enthusiasm, quickly became a favorite. This toy cleverly combines playtime with a treat-dispensing mechanism. Loading treats was simple, and it didn’t require excessive effort from the dogs to dispense them. However, the dogs seemed to favor the soft, bouncy rubber side over the treat-dispensing function.

Jean was particularly fond of this toy, spending hours chewing its rubbery surface before burying and rediscovering it, much to the dismay of his friend Komo. Across the board, from large Jambo to small Star, no tooth marks were observed, and treats were consistently dispensed, indicating an effective and straightforward treat mechanism. This makes it a great interactive toy for your dog.

The CyunCmay toy initially generated significant excitement but proved to be short-lived. Black Nero, our most vigorous chewer, managed to inflict considerable damage within 30 minutes. Despite its soft, pliable rubber texture and handles for tug-of-war, this toy was not built for extreme testing. While dogs enjoyed playing fetch and tugging with it, its lack of durability was disappointing.

This toy, primarily designed for dental cleaning, failed to capture the interest of our canine testers. Even the squeaker, which usually elicits excitement, was met with indifference, except for Maya, who initially hid from the noise but later showed brief curiosity. Adding peanut butter to the grooves provided a momentary distraction for Maya, but her interest waned quickly.

The Kong Wobbler, a large, hard plastic polymer toy, initially puzzled our dogs. While they understood treats were inside, they struggled to dispense them, especially on the uneven surfaces of their kennels. Once placed on a smooth floor and with appropriately sized treats, the Wobbler proved to be a hit. Its size makes it difficult for dogs to get a strong grip, reducing the likelihood of destruction. According to our dogs, this toy is both indestructible and easy to use, once the human element is figured out.
