Our facility is thoughtfully designed with various areas to accommodate the diverse needs of individual birds. To minimize stress and ensure a peaceful stay, smaller birds are typically housed separately from larger species, and more sensitive birds are kept away from their more boisterous companions. We are committed to making your bird’s experience as comfortable as possible and encourage you to communicate any specific needs or preferences.
We offer the flexibility of using either your own familiar cage or one of our safe and suitable cages. We provide a range of cage sizes to accommodate a wide variety of birds, from small finches to larger parrots and even chickens. If you wish to add a special touch to your bird’s temporary home, we also have a selection of toys and handmade perches available for purchase, ensuring your bird has something new and engaging to explore during their stay.
To ensure your avian friend secures a spot, we highly recommend contacting us well in advance, especially during peak travel seasons such as holidays and summer months, as our boarding spaces tend to fill up quickly. However, we understand that unexpected circumstances can arise, and we do our best to accommodate last-minute boarding requests. Boarding Policy Updates for Enhanced Avian Care
The Avian Medical Center is continuously striving to elevate the standard of care for our boarding clients. To ensure optimal health and proper medication delivery for all boarding birds, particularly those requiring water-based medications, we have updated our policies.
Effective immediately, all water medications will be mixed daily by our trained veterinary staff directly at the clinic. This daily mixing process guarantees the correct dosage and quality of medication for your bird. Consequently, we will no longer permit the use of pre-mixed water medications brought from home. We will exclusively utilize our in-house medications, eliminating the need for you to bring your bird’s personal prescriptions when boarding.
Furthermore, we have standardized our boarding charges. There will no longer be a distinction in cost based on whether your bird stays in its own cage or uses one of our provided cages. Boarding services are now categorized into two tiers: Basic Boarding and Specialized Boarding.
Basic Boarding includes essential services such as daily cage cleaning, provision of fresh water, a standard Volkman seed mix, or any dry foods you provide, along with fresh fruits and vegetables.
Specialized Boarding encompasses any services requiring water medications and/or more complex food preparations, such as thawing or heating of owner-provided diets. This tier is designed for birds with specific dietary or medical needs requiring extra attention.

Health and Safety Requirements for Boarders
To provide the highest caliber of care and to safeguard the health and well-being of all our boarding patients, the Avian Medical Center mandates certain health requirements. A comprehensive health examination and fecal analysis performed by Dr. Lintner within the last year of your reservation date are required for all boarding birds. We understand that convenience is important, and we are pleased to offer these essential services, along with any other necessary grooming, during your bird’s stay if that is more suitable for your schedule.
Our drop-off and pick-up times are scheduled to accommodate your needs. We are available Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. On Wednesdays, our operating hours are from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Please note that the clinic observes a daily lunch break from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. Planning your visit outside of these times will ensure a smooth and efficient experience.
